Rare Books

Books can be considered “rare” because of their importance, scarcity, age, condition, physical and aesthetic properties, association, or subject matter. Fifteen Native American related rare books (only twelve listed on the website) comprise a list of both historical and fictional accounts of Native Americans over a 125-year time period (1831-1956) that include scientific, ethnographic, and romanticized portrayals of Native Americans through the lens of Euro-American perspectives from the time of publication.
